Work continues on No.4 & 5, now in the undercoating stage of painting. For me this sees a light all over coat of Revell's Aqua Colour 'Earth Brown' (87) to give a rough appearance of wood, followed by all of the metal features given a rough coat of 'Leather Brown' (84). Nothing neat here as it will be covered over with the final livery.
The plan is that, where the top coat is a little thin, the base-coat will show through giving a work-worn appearance. I'm certainly not aiming for the beautifully restored versions of the original rolling stock as seen now.
Roofs are just laid on top for photographs, but the eagle eyed will spot they've both had a strip of masking tape applied to represent roofing felt. Both have also had their interiors painted fully in Leather Brown and in the case of the Brake, the partition wall has been installed dividing the ticket office from the van.
